Growing A Brush Cherry Bonsai In Your Garden

The Brush Cherry can add wonderful color as well as interest to your garden. This evergreen shrub will enhance your gardening efforts by yielding puffy white flowers along with round berries all in contrast with it’s glossy leaves which can have a lovely red tint.

The Brush Cherry Bonsai is an evergreen shrub that loves a warm climate like that of it’s native Florida. They do grow best outdoors, but if you live in a cold climate and simply must have one, you can try growing one indoors provided that you can give it enough light. This shrub can grow to upwards of 35 feet in it’s natural state, but will reach a height of about 14″ as a Bonsai.

If you are thinking about planing a Brush Cherry in your garden, be sure that the winters will be mild. The tree does fine in hot weather but ideally should be grown in temperatures ranging from 46 to 68 degrees.

Plant your Brush Cherry Bonsai in a slightly acidic soil and be sure it gets plenty of water in summer months, but don’t over water it. You should give it enough so that the soil is moist, but not so much that there is standing water in the pot. Let the soil dry between waterings. Bonsais love humidity so you might want to mist your plant and use a humidity tray. The bonsai should be set on top of the humidity tray so that it collects water that drains from the freshly watered bonsai.

Fertilize your Brush Cherry Bonsai every two weeks during the summer and a couple of times over the winter. The best type of fertilizer to use is an organic liquid fertilizer such as a seaweed fertilizer or fish emulsion. If you use a chemical fertilizer make sure you dilute it to half strength.

Pruning should be done with care and kept to the summer months. Pinch the leaves with your fingers and try not to use sharp objects like sheers on your Bonsai. Your Bonsai should be wired during the active growing season. Don’t forget to prune the roots as well, the Brush Cherry can survive quite well even with a two thirds loss of roots so you can be a bit aggressive in this task, however you want to be sure not to prune them too much when repotting as this can cause a negative reaction.

Bonsais should be repotted every two years, and the Brush Cherry is no exception. Repotting should be done in early spring and the plant should be watered thoroughly and kept in the shade for several weeks after repotting to help the roots grow into the new pot.

Although it is fairly hardy, pests can be a problem with the Brush Cherry especially the Caribbean fruit fly, aphids, red spider mites, meal bugs, and scales. You should treat your Bonsai with organic pesticides and insecticides and be sure to inspect it regularly for pests and other disease.

To add the finishing touch to your beautiful Brush Cherry Bonsai, think about adding moss to the pot which will help improve moisture retention as well as add to the beauty of this fun garden plant.

Ad Copy - Your 12 Point Inspection!

You’re ready to launch that new product or promotion, & you’re really counting on a piece of advertising copy to come through for you.

You’re looking for stellar results! And, you’re determined to do everything in your power to get them. Which means surveys, thorough testing, and ongoing refinement of your ad copy.

Hold the phone!

When you’ve got your draft, run it through this 12-point inspection. Cover off these basics, and you can be sure you’re off to a running start.

1 - Do You Have A Compelling Headline?

Does it generate curiosity? Does it promise a benefit that will compel someone with an interest in what you’re selling to keep reading. Remember, your headline is the ad for the ad.

When I am being paid to write direct response ad copy, or a sales letter, or have a very important sales objective of my own, I normally write 25 headlines before I begin the body of the piece.

Then I’ll pick half a dozen that I think will work & test them. The best of the rest, I use as sub headings throughout the piece to propel readership, and draw skimmers & skippers back into the copy as they move down the page.

2 - Are Your Headlines Pleasing To The Eye?

I most often find that headlines work best when they are centered on the page, & present a balanced appearance in terms of the shape they create. Encasing them in quotation marks also serves to grab more attention.

Long top headlines tend to reduce readership, but if they help qualify more effectively they can improve sales! Try them, but look for ways to modularize the text using punctuation & spacing so your readers don’t suffocate trying to read them. Sometimes a long top headline is better presented as two or even three separate headlines.

3 - Is Your Opening Provocative & Arresting?

Does it trip the reader, interrupting the internal turbulence of the day? Each line of your ad copy must serve to “sell” the reader on continued reading, especially at the beginning.

You are looking to build enough momentum & interest to convey the points necessary to generate a greater desire for the product than it’s price. Generally speaking, the higher the cost of the product, the more words required.

4 - Are You FAB Balanced?

You must focus on painting a picture of your prospects future life, as a result of their purchase. Does your copy promise emotional benefits? Does it pledge the realization of positive feelings, or the relief of negative ones?

Does it show how these outcomes are achieved with concise descriptions of the features & advantages that will deliver them? Your ad copy must strike a balance between emotion & logic if it is to be effect.

5 - Are You Creating Excitement & Enthusiasm?

Demonstrate you personal belief in what you are selling. Will your message quicken the readers pulse? Is it upbeat, positive, & full of inspired energy? Is there a sense of WOW?

6 - Is Your Body Copy Highly Readable?

Remember simple is best. Keep sentences short. Use a plain 10-point to 12-point font. Paragraphs no more than a few lines. Words that are comfortable & specific to the audience you are targeting. Inject subheads to break up text. Highlight important points.

7 - Do You Have High YOU density?

Remember to you use the words YOU & YOUR to the hilt. Your reader is auto translating to ME & MINE.

8 - Are you speaking intimately?

Can you get a strong sense of personality when you review your letter after being away from it for a while? Visualize yourself, or the character you are personifying, writing a personal letter to your perfect prospect. Never write to a crowd.

9 - Are you inspiring the readers imagination?

You must trigger mental images with your writing. The mind has difficulty distinguishing between vividly painted word pictures, & reality. Daydreams enchant, & emotions flow in their wake.

When you have emotion, you have desire. When you have desire, you have suggestibility. When you have suggestibility, you can direct action. Your levers are allegory (storytelling), metaphor, similes, verbs, adjectives, & specificity.

10 - Do you offer proof?

Specific testimonials & convincing guarantees worked into your ad copy are essential.

11 - Is your offer irresistible?

People are greedy, & they don’t part with their money easily. Are you piling bonuses on top of your reasons why they should part with their hard earned money, in exchange for immediate action?

12 - And finally, do you have a killer P.S.?

For some reason, the P.S. at the bottom of a sales letter gets read a lot. Make it stop your reader in their tracks, like a deer in the headlights! Associate a positive outcome with taking the desired action, or a negative one with delay or inaction.

So there you have it. Exercise this 12-step ad copy checklist before your sales rubber hits the road.

E-Learning: Effective Employee Training

Training is essential to any employee and provides not only a benefit to them but also to the company in increased productivity and employee job satisfaction. The high costs of travel combined with increasing strained budgets have meant that training can sometimes be the first thing to be cut when focusing on the bottom line. Companies are turning to a more cost-effective solution through online education and e-learning.

Training an employee is essential for any business, whether it be a fast food establishment or a multi-million dollar software company. One of the most effective ways to train employees is to let them get education at their own pace through e-learning training programs. Not only does this eliminate costly travel expenses but it also allows the employee to take the training on their own schedule as they are available. If an employee cannot finish the online education is one sitting they can easily come back to where they left off next time. Furthermore, if there is a question or a concept the employee does not understand the e-learning system lets them review and go over materials as often as they desire.

One of the foremost designers of e-learning software is Gary Blum Designs. They have developed online education systems for a number of major companies including Charles Schwab, Cygent and Sybase. If your company does not have an internal training department then hiring an outside contractor such as Gary Blum Designs can be the best solution for getting quality e-learning materials delivered right to your employees.

Most online education includes quiz and performance evaluation software at the end of the course. This information can be stored for use by management to see training weak-spots in the company or judge individual performance. Many times employees can re-take missed quizzes or evaluations and never be asked the same question twice thanks to the technology behind the e-learning application.

Great Bargains And Great Discounts

I like bargains, do you like bargains?

Shopping with money off discount vouchers is becoming very popular amongst internet shoppers worldwide. Who wouldn’t want to get the best discounts and bargains, equalling value when making internet purchases? Personally I enjoy surfing the vast www just to pass the time of day; especially for clothing, gifts and gadgets, and it’s come to my amazement at how much cheaper things are with special discount vouchers.

The sites I surf don’t advertise their own discount vouchers, quite obviously if you’re there and about to buy they don’t need to give you any more discount, you’re there. But recently I’ve come across an extremely user friendly site that contains bargains and vouchers that are updated on a daily basis.

If you’re a shop-a-holic then check out the bargains and discount voucher codes at Discount Shopping UK. Some of my favourites include the Eco Gifts site they advertise called Gizoo which I’ve yet to buy anything from but the products are just uber cool, and Bored Of The High Street which features clothing and I’ve actually just bought a pair of Hudson Jeans using the discount voucher. This site allows you to shop by store or category, it’s your preference. The site is easy to find your way around with more bargains and stores added each time I visit. Using discount vouchers is all about helping you save time and money on your online purchases. Just check out the bargain promotions and discount vouchers that are available at Discount Shopping UK next time you go to buy anything online.

Poetry Workshops

I find poetry workshops study more the theory and craft of writing poetry. I joined one in the past and found it to be filled with snobs who pretty much write bad poetry. Half of what they say can not even be understood. Their poetry consists of nothing more but verses of diarrhea metaphors. Hearing the opinions and critiques of other writers is a vital component of every creative writer’s growth, however I find workshops don’t take into count poetic licensing ;when they critique the submissions of members. They seem to be harsh and focus too much on the structure, style, and other elements of literature.

To be honest I don’t even think the types of poets who think they are teachers in the theory even look at the emotions put behind a poem. Many of these so called teachers have a toolkit for criticism. They pick apart your poem and when they are finished, you are not even left with your own thoughts. Workshops are just made of a bunch of writers who think they are expert critiques. One might look at me because I can’t spell to save my butt and my punctuation leaves much to be desired, however that is what I have an editor for. I am passionate about writing and spend hours putting my words on paper. To me that is what poetry is about.

I’m not interested in joining no work shop that is going to focuses on the craft of poetry: line breaks, stanza breaks, voice, persona, diction, syntax, and revision. I’m very content with administrating an online community that allows it’s writers a poetic license. I’m content writing free verse and creating a community of authors of poetry and prose. I’m dedicated in giving my members at Todays-Woman the freedom of art. My members are happy for they joined in a pursuit of their passion to just write. I want to run a community where experienced and aspiring poets may submit their poetry for critical commentary and discussion without being told how to write and having their poem picked apart until it is no longer theirs.

I don’t want to hand over control to a workshop and let them take it upon themselves to edit me or stylize me. I don’t want them to touch my style issues, I don’t want someone editing my poetic voice, tone, or how I deliver my thoughts. I won’t do that to another person. Don’t do it to me. Feel free to just edit my spelling, mechanics, grammar and my bad typos. But leave my thoughts my own. You can have your poetry workshops. I have a poetry community that supports art and a style of writing that is my own. That is good enough for me.

Do You Know How Trampolines Were Invented ?

Back in 1930, a young boy went to the circus with his
family. He was enthralled by the aerial acts, but more
than their in-air stunts, he was fascinated by the way they
dropped into the safety net after the act was over,
finishing off with flourishes as they bounced back into the
air.

That memory never left George Nissen of Iowa, who went on
to tumbling and diving exploits while in high school. The
sports gave him the same opportunity for artistic touches
and freedom of movement, although they ended either on a
hard floor, or in the water.

Still, when Nissen graduated at the age of 16, he took some
time off before university, to start tinkering in his
garage with the idea that had been simmering in his mind
since that visit to the circus- a bouncing “table”, that
would put him back up into the air.

With the help of friends to weld the frame, and stretch
tent grade canvas on it, he soon had his first “bouncing
rig”. Nissen then went off to college, but continued to
toy with the size and other aspects of design, eventually
taking one to summer camp where he worked. The rig was an
instant hit with the kids who would rather play on it, than
take a break from the sweltering heat by going swimming.

Nissen refined his athletic skills at university, and after
he earned a degree, he and two other gymnasts formed the
Three Leonardos, a tumbling and balancing act that did
small town tours. While in Mexico, they swam at the Y
where they learned that the diving board was called “el
trampolin”. Nissen anglicized the word to trampoline and
patented it for his new invention.

While their performances did result in orders, by the time
WWII broke out, Nissen had bought his partners shares in
the company. Then he went on to promote the device himself,
selling around 100 to military sources for training pilots
and parachutists.

Drumming up business in the post-war years was hard work,
but as before, performance was the key, and publicity
didn’t hurt. A chance photograph that Nissen had taken of
himself and a kangaroo in mid-jump on the same trampoline,
became as famous around the world, as his invention would
become in the next few years.

How Silence Can help You Close More Sales

Silence is Golden

Want to close more sales? STOP TALKING!!!!! Think back to your
high school and college days. When your teacher or professor
told you that whatever he/she was talking about was going to be
on a test or quiz, did you listen more intently? Did you wakeup
and start taking notes? Were you suddenly trying to capture as
much information as possible?

When you are on a sales call, it’s not too much different than
what was supposed to happen when you were in a classroom
environment. You were there to learn. You were there to obtain
information.

Your client is meeting with you presumably because they need
help. Are you giving your clients the solution before you really
understand the problem? Do you have a tendency to interrupt
people and give them your ideas before they can complete a
sentence? When you do the talking, you are inhibiting your
prospects and clients from wanting to talk. Your job is not to
dominate the conversation and give a lot of advice. Your job is
to listen, and encourage your prospects to keep on talking. Your
job is to help your customer solve a problem. Your job is to
find the root of the problem and determine if your customer
wants to fix it. You can’t do that if you are dominating a
conversation.

Encourage your prospects and clients to do the majority of the
talking. Use short statements and questions to encourage your
prospects to continue giving you more information. Some examples
are. “Tell me more. Can you elaborate on that? Please go on. How
long has this been a problem? Could you give me an example of
that? How have you tried to fix the problem? What is the
financial impact of this problem?”

Next time you are in a sales situation and you are trying to
understand the customer’s motivations, concerns, problems, pains
and challenges, pretend what they are saying will be on a test.
Listen 70-80% of the time.

Don’t be too surprised if your closing ratio increases as your
talking decreases. An “A” on this test is a closed sale. B’s and
C’s don’t count.

Time for the Trico Hatch

Ahh, yes. Trico time, the time of year accomplished fly
fisherman throw down their rods in disgust. Take up the golf
clubs, repaint the house, design the ninth wonder of the world.
Anything but test their patience and skill against the dreaded
Tricos and the super selective trout that feed on them. Called
the ‘White Winged Devils’ in the gentlest of circles, these tiny
micro hatches can infuriate the most skilled of the fly fishing
angler. Huge lunker trout hunker down in feeding lanes slurping
up every Trico spinner except the pattern you are offering to
them. And after several hundred tedious passes, after you have
lightened your tippet, after you have changed your position
after you have done everything but jump in the water and grab
the fish with your bare hands, you give up in disgust, and wait
for something larger and more tangible to come off the water. A
nice Salmonfly hatch would be the ticket. But, alas there are
ways to improve your catch rate during these prolific hatches.

About the Trico:

The Tricos are prevalent in a majority of great trout fly
fishing streams from Pennsylvania to the west coast. They
primarily hatch in the morning, and primarily in the summer.
Although the streams of Arizona and New Mexico can have hatches
in February. The Trico is tiny, this adds to the frustration of
many fly fisher’s, it can be as small as size 26 hook, although
they primarily are in the 18-22 range. Besides their diminutive
size, they can be recognized by their lack of hind wing.

On many rivers the Trico hatch is multigenerational lasting
several months into late summer or early fall. So trout see a
lot of them, and a few fish get caught, making them even more
selective. By far the easiest Trico fishing is the actual
spinner fall. After the laying of the eggs, the females die in
swarms and fall into the river, and then the males closely
follow. Hatching usually takes place early in the morning or
late at night. With the spinner falls shortly after daybreak to
mid-morning.

Flies:

As we stated above, spinner falls are more important than the
actual hatch for fly fishing. Spinner falls happen in clusters
and trout crowd into feeding lanes, and can open their mouths
and inhale a multitude of flies. Here at The Big Y Fly Co.
(http://www.bigyflyco.com) we carry Parachutes and Spinners, in
both male (black) and female (cream) colors. The Parachute with
their white posts are easier to see, and can be used for the
hatch and the spinner fall. They also are more buoyant than the
hackle-less spinner.

The Spinner pattern has the advantage of being easier to fish
below the surface. During the fall, the Trico’s drown and fish
often slurp up these delicacies below the surface, for safer
feeding. Trout are less selective sub-surface and thus it makes
for easier imitation as well.

Fishing:

Most fish caught during the Trico hatch are taken fairly close
to the angler, twelve to twenty feet. Accurate casts are
required especially during the spinner falls when fish
congregate. If casting accurately isn’t your forte, then fishing
the actual hatch is probably your best bet. Using slower action
rods often enhances casting accuracy, and absorb much of the
shock when fish strike to protect the tippets. To learn more
about rod selection read:
http://www.bigyflyco.com/choosingaflyrod.html.

As mentioned earlier light tippets are the rule. Fishing tiny
flies requires a drag free drift, and once hooked fish will need
to be finessed or they will break your fly off. Try to lead your
fish out of the feeding lanes by pointing your rod tip down and
forcing them to shore, thus spooking less fish, and getting your
fish into slower water will ease its landing.

Since the Trico hatch is long in many areas the trout become
more and more selective. During the spinner fall they will often
feed on females (cream color) first and males (black) second. It
often pays off to switch flies during the fall, it is often
difficult to rationalize, to take the time this requires, when
fish are rising everywhere. If you are fortunate enough to have
two rods handy, rig them up before hitting the water.

If you are having no luck, try forcing your pattern sub-surface.
This works especially well for the Trico Spinner pattern. Fish
are often more vicious feeders under the water and less
selective. It is often the way fly fishing novice’s catch their
first trout during the Trico hatch.

Summary:

Perhaps more than any other fly fishing experience, the Trico
hatch teaches us patience, perseverance, and the joys of
catching fish. Summer is a glorious time to be on the water, and
the Trico hatch gives us an excuse to let that paint fade just
one more year

Web Hosting as a Long Term Investment

Web Hosting as a Long Term Investment

Web hosting is basically a service for web users who may be, but
not limited to, individuals or companies with web sites for
storing any information or data that can be accessed through the
Web. Web hosting companies provide space on their web servers
and Internet connectivity for their clients.

In a nutshell, web hosting means making web sites accessible via
the Internet. Access could mean through File Transfer Protocol
or by any Web interface.

There are several types of web hosting depending on the method
of hosting and the targeted clients.

Free Web Hosting. Some web hosting companies offer you to have
your web site accessible in the Web at no charge at all. In
return, they will be having their advertisements popping-up or
added to your web site. The services you get for free have
usually limited bandwidths, disk space, traffic limits and
limited web development tools. For up and coming web developers
this is a great way to have their web sites accessible via the
web.

Image Web Hosting. Some web hosting companies prefer having an
image gallery or pictures depot. Image Web Hosting is usually
free but you have to become an active member of the web host’s
site.

Shared Web hosting. This service is also usually for free. Their
method of hosting usually only allows a few web pages to be
uploaded for a web site, (Ex. Resume Web Hosting Site). Disk
space for the entire server is limited and so are the other
resources.

Clustered Web Hosting. Unlike Shared Web Hosting where the
resources are common for all web sites, this type of hosting
uses Clustering Technology. This technology offers strict
security, it has a load balancing system and all the other
necessary web development tools that is replicated for each web
site. Clustered Web Hosting may involve several physical servers
working together and is also very open for disk space upgrades
or memory upgrades.

Reseller Web Hosting. This hosting method is actually a scheme
for entrepreneurs to market Web Hosting for reselling by other
entrepreneurs. You practically buy a large chunk of space in
their servers with all the web development tools and can divide
that chunk for you to be able to create space to other web sites.

Virtual Dedicated Server Hosting. This hosting service is like
clustered Web Hosting. The difference is that the web sites that
are hosted are all in one physical server.

Dedicated Web Hosting. This type of hosting requires that the
client get his own physical server. The client may enjoy all the
resources that a dedicated server has but would still be
restricted by the policy set by the Web hosting company. It is
also quite expensive and is only for big companies with high
bandwidths and large databases.

Co-located Web Hosting. This is like dedicated Web Hosting but
without the policy restrictions of the Web hosting company.
Individuals or companies having Web Server Administration
knowledge prefer this scheme.

Before obtaining the services of any web hosting company, an
Internet access scheme or plan may be a good idea. This would be
more of a necessity for large companies that rely heavily on web
access and web site hosting. Security issues should also be a
main concern if privilege data is to be posted on databases
hosted on web servers.

The web hosting company must support the platform or application
requirements for the existing or intended Web site. Currently
open system platforms are supported by most Web hosting
companies. The open system platform usually consists of Linux as
the Operating System, Apache as the Web server application,
MySQL as the backend database, and Php as the server side
interface. Some web hosting companies have Python of Perl as
their server side interface.

There are several hundreds of web hosting companies that you can
find in the Internet offering features that would seem
attractive at first. But you have to know what your web site
really needs. You also must be able to compare prices and be
able to identify which hosting company is legitimate and which
web hosting company has a good track record by researching on
the history and track record of the many Web hosting companies.

Web hosting is a long-term investment on your part. Choosing the
right hosting company is choosing the right investment.

Find all the GPS systems information you need

Find all the GPS systems
information you need

Are you looking for some GPS systems information? Then
come to see us. We have been providing technical courses and
advanced GPS training on GPS systems information since
a long time ago. We offer more than 20 courses on professional
GPS and all you want to know about GPS systems information.

But, first than anything, what is exactly a Global Positioning
System (GPS) ?

It is a satellite-based navigation system made up of a network
of 24 satellites placed into orbit by the U.S. Department of
Defense. At first, GPS was going to be used by military
applications, but later in the 1980s, the government allowed it
to be available for civilian use. It doesn’t matter the weather
conditions, GPS keeps working anywhere in the world and the
whole day. It is not necessary any subscription fees or setup
charges to use GPS.

The second question would be: How it works?

GPS satellites circle the earth twice a day in a very precise
orbit and transmit signal information to earth. GPS receivers
can calculate exactly where the user is by taking this
information and using triangulation. In other words, the GPS
receiver compares the time a signal was transmitted by a
satellite with the time it was received. The time difference
tells the GPS receiver how far away the satellite is. And by
repeating this procedure with a few more satellites, the
receiver can determine the user’s position and show it on the
unit’s electronic map.

A GPS receiver can calculate the latitude and longitude and
track movement if it is locked on to the signal of at least
three satellites. And it can determine the user’s latitude,
longitude and altitude using four or more satellites. But it
doesn’t end with this, because once we have the user’s position,
the GPS unit can calculate other information, such as speed,
bearing, track, trip distance, distance to destination, and much
more. So not just you can know where exactly somebody is, but
also you can know a lot of things about that person, and it
doesn’t matter where in the world that person may be.

There is so much more GPS systems information and a
lot of things you can learn to understand and use a GPS system
correctly and you can find all of them just by looking for us.

Browse our list of course schedules, course descriptions,
