Trading Your Job For A Home Based Business

Many people dream of owning their own home based
business.

They imagine all the money they will make and the
freedom they will enjoy. Many people actually
realize their dream. Home based business entrepreneurs
enjoy some of the best aspects of being in business
for themselves without alot of the hassle and expense
of a typical site business.

There are those that turn what they may doing at work into a home based business. Some turn their
favorite hobby into a business. Many people come
up with an idea or find a business that interests
them and then go forward with it.

Many things come into play with this process of
Entrepreneurship. Making this kind of move is very
unnerving to some because of the bold thrust into
the unknown that it requires, not to mention leaving
the security of a good job. There are risks. A good
plan to reduce risk is warranted. Risk when properly
planned and compensated for can be very rewarding.

The best plan of action is to start a business part
time working as many hours on it that you can aside
from your regular job until the business is making
as much or more than the job. Then before making the
jump from your job into full time business make
sure to pay off most or all personal debts with the
exception of your home. Then put six months to a years
worth of income in a savings account.

I made that leap years ago when I actually purchased
my first home based business. I must say it was scary.
I was worried about all the things that I would need,
such as knowledge, money, supplies, office location,
business tools, etc. I was concerned about giving up
my regular and expected income from my job.

I was lucky that the person who sold this business to
me actually helped me get established with suppliers
and customers as well as helped me get into the
operation of the business. Basically he showed me the
ropes.

I actually ran my new business from home for over
nine years. My first home based business was a success.

I look back at that experience and try to recall
some of the keys to my success. I came up with a
list.

First. I found a business to buy and bought it.
This is a great way to go as long as you do the foot
work in verifying the actual current income as well
as income potential. Verifying the current business
relationships (suppliers, customers etc.) is very
important. Starting a business is just as viable
however there are more steps involved.

Second. I learned the business as fast as I could
and put the necessary time into building it right
from the beginning.

Third. I had a mentor in the beginning to help me
get going. I wasted no time in getting to know my
suppliers and customers.

Fourth. I was consistent in my working hours and
kept learning and applying new strategies to make
things run better and smoother.

Fifth. I took time to enjoy the fruits from my
business. I had more time and money to work with.

I know that the two most important factors in my
success were a quick decision and a lot of action
in the beginning.

There are a lot less things to consider when starting
a home based business. It is easier to get going more
quickly. In my opinion everyone should start their own
business but alas there are those who will never give
it a try.

I love the ideal of being independent of a time clock and a boss breathing down my neck. It frees your mind
up and allows your creativity to grow and flourish.
The idea of designing ones life the way you would
have it is very appealing to a lot of people.

Some people catch the business bug and end up creating
many new businesses, keeping some and selling some. In
the process they end up making their lives better,
and creating jobs those who are not entrepreneurs in
alot of cases.

Sixty-Second Caring

“How are you doing?” you ask. There’s a pause before the reply. “You don’t really want to know.” The eyes look down. The body language says, “If you turn and walk away, I won’t blame you.”

Often we’re unprepared for this golden moment, thrown off balance by the answer. We must pre-think our response to that situation.

Response #1: “Want to talk about it?” Listen to understand, not to advise. We usually need acceptance and understanding more than advice.

#2: A loving hug or pat on the shoulder. “Love is . . . capable of healing broken minds, bodies and spirits. The touch is the vehicle by which love can be conveyed” (John Hornbrook, The Miracle of Touching [Lafayette, LA: Huntington House, 1985]: 27-28).

#3: “Could we pray about it right now?” This shows you care and points to the ultimate Strength. “In everything . . . present your requests to God, and the peace of God . . . will keep you hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Phil. 4:6-7).

#4: “Maybe you can’t talk now. Can I call you later?” Some problems can be shared only in private — the hurt is too deep or the problem too personal. Respect for privacy might provide a chance to serve otherwise unavailable.

None of these responses takes very long, but they say loud and clear, “I care about you and what you’re going through.” They are ways we can “bear one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ” (Gal. 6:2).

Top 3 Ways To Buy An LCD TV

This may come as a surprise to you. Just like other types of big
screen TVs, LCD flat screen TVs have some disadvantages, as
well. Yes, it’s true. For example, LCD TVs have lower contrast
ratios than plasmas, because they have a harder time reproducing
deep black and dark grays. Their screen also tend to be thicker
than plasma screens.

However, a LCD flat screen TV is not susceptible to burn-in and
usually is less expensive than plasma televisions. LCD TVs also
run cooler than plasma TVs, thereby minimizing the need for
noisy fan cooling. Many LCD sets can double as a PC monitors, as
well. In terms of longevity, LCD flat screen TVs can last up to
60,000 hours, whereas plasma TVs, on average, last 30,000 to
40,000 hours.

Ready To Buy a LCD Flat Screen TV? So, you are all set to buy
your first LCD flat screen TV? Cool! Here are some shopping tips
before you set you mind on a particular model.

1. Check The Black-When you are shopping for your LCD flat
screen TV, bring along a DVD movie that has dimly lit scenes.
Use this to check for good black reproduction. Don’t worry, the
sales people won’t think you are odd-maybe slightly obsessive,
but not weird.

2. Remote Control-A good remote could be the difference between
relaxation and frustration. Make sure that the remote control
has backlighting so you can see you options in the dark. Also,
make sure that the remote is comfortable. It is going to be in
your hand a lot! 170-degree Viewing Angles-Try to find a LCD
flat screen TV that has 170-degree viewing angles so that you
may watch the image from anywhere in the room.

3. HD-Ready-HDTV stands for high-definition television. So, a
HDTV is a television with a built-in digital tuner that shows
high-definition broadcasts in true high-definition resolution.
We recommend that you buy a LCD flat screen TV that is HD-ready,
so that you may view HD programming- it’s the wave of the future.

So, look around before you buy the perfect LCD flat screen TV
for your home. You should understand that there are some
disadvantages to each kind of television format, and nothing can
reach perfection-yet. Well, except for maybe a jumbo 65-inch
Sharp Aquos TV. LCD TVs can be simply awesome if you know what
you are doing when you shop for them.

There is more than meets the eye when LCD TV shopping. These
points only scratch the surface (if that!). Find out all the
insider info on LCD TVs today.

The Necessity of Continuous Sales Training

The prosperity and popularity of successful companies is obviously the result of continuous training. Without proper sales training, a business is unable to stand out from the rest, thus having poor exposure and low credibility on the market. In order to achieve and maintain the success of their companies, business owners need to make sure that all their team members benefit from frequent sales training. While a short sales training course or seminary can familiarize your sales staff with the fundamentals of sales, the long-term success of your business can only be achieved through the means of ongoing sales training. Ongoing sales training is vital for maintaining the pace with other businesses in your branch and it can also help your company to get ahead of the competition.

Ongoing sales training programs are very important for any business, as they can help salespeople to maintain a good level of sales performance. It is important to note that the great majority of salespeople only improve their selling performance at first, being unable to progress further without frequent sales training interventions. Considering the fact that marketing and sales are a marathon, not a sprint, it is vital to frequently intervene with new, effective sales training solutions among the members of your business.

Proper sales training programs work on multiple levels: they provide the members of your business team with the latest marketing solutions and strategies, strengthen the relationships between the members of your team and also boost the morale and the motivation of your entire sales staff. An effective sales training program can have a very refreshing effect on the entire business, announcing a new stage in the activity of the company.

There are two main categories of sales training: self-study oriented sales training, which allows the trainees to learn on their own and trainer-oriented sales training, taught by a sales “coach”. The first category of sales training includes multimedia training, tradebooks and textbooks that contain various selling techniques and strategies. Trainer-oriented sales training includes programs that involve active participation to courses, seminaries or laboratories. In contrast with self-study oriented sales training materials, trainer-oriented sales training programs are by far the best means of acquiring a wide range of skills and abilities that can considerably increase the sales efficiency of your business.

Trainer-oriented sales training programs have the advantage of offering trainees the chance to engage in role play situations, thus allowing attendants to quickly polish their skills. During the entire program, the trainees are encouraged to express their opinions and ideas, being provided with proper feed-back from their trainers. Trainer-oriented sales training programs can effectively improve the skills and abilities of your business team members, thus enhancing the overall performance of your company.

Finding the Right Real Estate Agent:: A Guide for Seniors

When considering buying or selling a home, seniors have a special set of needs that may not apply to others in the real estate market. The first time home buyer has a certain set of needs. Young families with small children have another. Seniors fall into a whole different category.

It is important then, to make sure that the real estate professional you choose has the ability to meet the needs of the senior buyer or seller. Most agents are simply interested in putting your home on the market and getting it sold. But there is much more to the process than that. Seniors need an agent who is willing to “go the extra mile” to make the transaction as stress-free and hassle free as possible.

Senior sellers may be in the process of “scaling down”, moving to a smaller home or an assisted care facility. Your agent needs to understand how to help you to figure out what you will need to take with, and suggest ways to dispose of excess items that won’t fit in your new environment. Your agent should have suggestions for companies who can organize estate sales, garage sales or help you organize a charity to pick up items which may not be needed in the new setting.

Seniors may have lived in their home for a number of years and not understand what people are looking for in today’s market. Your agent needs to know what the market may demand. If you are selling a home in a 55+ community other seniors may not demand granite counter-tops and the most updated appliances. A simple fresh coat of paint may be all you need to make the property appealing before putting it on the market. Other markets will demand more upgrades, or a sales price adjustment, which the right agent will advise you on.

Seniors may have owned their properties for a number of years, resulting in numerous tax implications. While Real Estate Professionals cannot give you tax advise, the right agent, working with your tax advisor should be able to advise you in ways of selling your properties which could result in less taxes or tax deferments. These types of sales need to be handled correctly to protect as many of the seniors assets as possible. The amount of equity you have in a property, the way title is held and whether or not property has been held as an investment all make a difference is the next step you make. Be sure your agent understands the implications of disposing of these properties.

An agent dealing with seniors need to be understanding of special health needs which may be in the home. If health issues are a concern in your home make sure that you have an agent who will show compassion and concern in trying to show the home at convenient times for the family members with those special needs. Again, if you have an agent whose only concern is that they get the home sold as quickly as possible, compassion may give way to convenience- the real estate agent’s convenience.

When searching for the right agent, try to find an agent who has had experience in working with other seniors and those who have been in similar circumstances to yours. Let your “gut instinct” be your guide. If you feel pushed by an agent, or rushed, as though they don’t have time for you, perhaps you don’t have the right person.

Once you do have the right agent- sit back, relax and leave the driving to them!

Fig Jam

I was about five and my sister, Kate , was fourteen. I was a constant nuisance to her and she always had to hide her personal things such as books and candies from me. Sometimes I was good enough to track them down and place them elsewhere , to Kate’s outmost dismay of course! Our mom used to take my side:

“She’s only a baby, don’t be mean!” she would say to furious Kate.

But Kate was adamant.

“If she does that again I’ll beat her up!”

To tell you the truth, I was a bit afraid of her, as she was tall, fat and strong, while I was so thin and frail. I dared not confront her when mom was not around. She knew that and she called me ‘coward’ . We were in a constant battle. However, I was not always the winner. There were times when mom lost her patience with me and just screamed:

“Be quiet, don’t touch her books, hear me?” Then I was nice and polite.

But the next moment I had he chance to discover a new treasure, I forgot all about good manners and I was back in messing Kate’s belongings up.

Sometimes though, Kate was really nice to me. I did not understand why, just took it for granted . Just like the day mom made her best-loved fig jam.

I forgot to mention that Kate was an avid food lover, and she had a sweet tooth as well. August is the month of ripe figs in Greece. Every year mom used to buy a large amount of figs and made the family’s favorite dessert: fig jam.

I was not interested in this jam, not in any other jam in the world, but Kate was . She was actually a great fan of mom’s cooking endeavors. She smelt the aroma of the freshly made jam and tried to locate the cupboard mom stored the jars.

“Don’t you dare touch the jam!” Mom warned Kate. “It’s for the winter. ” But she gave her just a little jar to comfort her.

“This will do for the time being!” mom said.

Kate sighed but she had to obey. The small jar was soon empty and Kate tried to find a way to get some more.

One morning, while mom was in the garden, Kate found what she was looking for: the key to the secret cupboard where all the jam jars were kept. She had already unlocked the cupboard door and was taking the lid off one jar when I walked in looking for mom. I saw her and was ready to say something, but she whispered :

“Go away, right now!”

I did not.
“What are you doing” I asked her foolishly, as it was obvious what she was doing!

“Trying this jam, silly. I’m testing it to see if it’s the same as the one mom ’s given me.” She said shoving a big spoonful into her mouth.

“Mom said you shouldn’t touch it,” I said.

“Just a little bit won’t do ant harm,” Kate replied, diving her spoon into the jar once more.

“I’ll tell mom,” I said and was ready to leave.

“Wait!” she screamed. “Try this!” She forced a spoonful into my mouth. “Let’s have a secret, shall we?” she said.

“I don’t like jam!” I mumbled with my mouth full.

Just then we heard footsteps. Kate wiped the jam from my mouth, closed the cupboard hurriedly and shoved me behind the green velvet curtains of the living room.

“Stay there and don’t talk!” she ordered.

I couldn’t talk anyway with my mouth full of fig jam. I had to swallow it first.

“What are you doing over there?” mom’s voice sounded loudly in my ears.

“I’m looking for Lia, ” Kate replied. “Maybe she’s in the garden,” she added.

“She’s not,” mom replied concerned. “Lia!” she started shouting.

I had finally managed to swallow the sticky jam and replied:

“Here I am , mom!” and I emerged from the curtain.

“What are you doing there?” mom asked.

Kate gave me an angry look.

“I’m hiding,” I confessed.
“We were playing hide and seek,” Kate added.

Mom stared at both of us and then shook her head.

A few days later, the secret was revealed. It was not my fault. Mom found out the half-eaten fig jam and Kate had to confess her crime, or her good deed.

“Lia wanted some jam so I thought you wouldn’t mind,” she defended herself.

Mom was surprised.

“I didn’t know you liked my fig jam!” she told me. “I’m glad you do! It’s very healthy and nutritious!”

So, from that day on, I had to eat a slice of bread with fig jam at breakfast. At the beginning, I felt sick of it, but a little by little I got used to it , and, funnily enough, I started liking it. I still do!

Don’t Work for Your Money, Make it Work for You!

Well, the New Year is around the corner and so are New Year’s Resolutions! It’s such a great time of year to consider what the past year has brought us and what we want to create in the coming year.

To help you get started thinking about the coming year, we are publishing a series of articles on top wealth creating habits. This series of articles will feature simple and practical ways that you can begin easily creating wealth in your life, no matter what your current situation. Ready? Let’s dive in!

Chances are, if you’re reading this article, you’re not wealthy yet. Chances are also that you are an employee, working for someone else, or you are a business owner but your business has not yet made you wealthy. In either case, haven’t you dreamed of being a wealthy business owner, whose business generates continuous wealth and income? Most of us have…but most of us also run up against the brick wall of not knowing how.

The best way to get started becoming a business owner with very productive employees is to get a business and hire some great employees. Now, most of us aren’t able to do that overnight, or we would have done it already, right? Wrong!

If you consider your money (assets or cash) as your employees, then you are an instant business owner. Voila! Think about it. When you invest your money or apply it toward a productive entrepreneurial venture, your money works just as hard to produce an income as you do when you go to your daily job. In fact, it works harder than most employees do - money has no family or personal problems and doesn’t argue with you. When you put what available money you have to work for you, you are now a business owner with employees (your money). When you realize that money has the potential to work just as hard as you do, then you’ve just enlightened yourself with one of the top wealth creating habits!

Now, to get a productive business that earns a good return for you, you need to keep adding “employees” to your business by saving your money and investing it. Whether it’s a dollar or twenty dollars, every “employee” counts. The wealth creating habit you want to cultivate in this regard is to save and invest your dollars rather than spending them on things that will give you short term pleasure but no long term benefit. Remember that every dollar you turn into an “employee” rather than spending in the moment will work for you for the rest of your life! Think about that the next time you feel tempted by some new trendy thing you’ve just got to have!

How can you get started on building this wealth creating habit in your life? It’s easy. At the beginning of each day, spend a few minutes experiencing what it would be like not to have to go to work every morning, but to be able to choose whether you want to work or not. During the day, as you are faced with spending choices, bring that experience back into focus to help yourself choose wisely. At night, keep a journal of your spending decisions for that day and note what percentage of the time you chose wisely. Your goal? To increase that percentage gradually to 100%.

Most experts say that it takes 21 to 40 days to create a solid new habit. That’s not long when you think about it. All you have to do is get started - now. Good luck!

Stop Smoking Now

With all the knowledge we have theses days, it can be very surprising to see people continue to indulge in habits that are detrimental to their health. In actual fact what this tells us is that addiction is powerful.

Our objective is to learn about smoking. How it affects you. The power of addiction and health implications involved in this habit. Currently it is estimated that over one billion people smoke around the world. Most smokers begin at an early age, generally in there teens. In the past smoking was a recreational function of the rich, but these days that is quite the contrary. Unfortunately the less educated seem to be smoking rather than the educated. The level of education, income and standard of living contribute greatly to the success of quitting smoking.

Here are some interesting statistics from the world health organization. 25.6 million people smoke in the United States.
Among whites 25.1% of men smoke and 21.7% of women smoke.

Among African Americans, 27.6% of men smoke and 18% of women smoke.

Among Hispanics 23.2% men smoke and 12.5% of women smoke.
Among Asians 21.3% men smoke and 6.9% of women.
One out of every five deaths is tobacco related. It is estimated that 400′000 Americans die each year from tobacco.

Smoking is highest among persons living below the poverty level. Education is extremely important in the fight against smoking. Education is not just telling people about smoking. What is needed is dialogue and interaction so that each individual can understand factually the implications.

I talked to a person one time who was very upset that the price of cigarettes is getting increasingly expensive. She felt she was been discriminated against. To her she is addicted and the majority are against her. She felt the fight against tobacco was an attack on her.

Firstly it is poor education that makes her feel this way. Secondly when smoking socially you also jeopardize the health of others. Thirdly the costs to the health system are enormous. Fourthly we as people take things personally. Addiction can bring pleasure temporarily but fatal consequences later. Her challenge was that she wanted to continue smoking and the majorities were making it difficult for her. So when you really get down to it she was concerned about her own pleasures above her health and the health of others.

The choices to continue smoking is yours, but understand that the costs are high for your health and the health of others. No one can deny the dangers of smoking. Quit today.

Web Sites Share Your Dream With The World

With over 16 million web sites on the Internet, how do you get your home-based business’s site noticed?

There is much to discuss when it comes to web sites, but this article will consider some basic ideas for your web site’s design.

Ask three people for their Internet design opinions and you’ll get three different answers. One thing’s for sure, though:

K I S S

That’s right, Keep It Simple Stupid. :-)

Web sites should have a clean, simple look with easy navigation and a logical layout. Nothing turns a visitor away quicker than being confused. If your visitors can’t find what they’re looking for within a few seconds, they’ll click to another site and never return to yours.

Design Considerations

Here are some things to keep in mind:

Load Time — Internet users are impatient. If it takes too long for your web pages to load, they’ll go somewhere else. And, yes, 10 seconds is long!

Graphics — Too many graphics on your web sites also contribute to slow load times. Some people turn off the display of graphics in their browsers, which means you need to have ALT tags to tell them what the graphic is about.

In addition, reduce the size of your graphics so that your web pages load quicker by using one of the free image reducers available on the Internet.

Broken Links — Web pages should work, so verify all links regularly to make sure you’re not losing visitors out of frustration.

Contact Information — You must have a means for visitors to contact you clearly posted on your web sites. If there’s a problem and your visitors can’t get in touch with you, you could lose them forever.

Spell Check — It should be common sense, but it isn’t. You should spell check your web pages before you put them on your site. Nothing says unprofessional like spelling mistakes throughout your web pages.

And, for Pete’s sake, look at your web pages after they’re up on your site. Make sure they look the way you want them to look. Remember, you want your web site to be profitable, to help your home-based business to be as successful as it can be.

Conclusion

While there are many things to consider when setting up your web site, it’s worth the effort.

It’s absolutely necessary for you to have web space for your home-based business to succeed!

What Every Employee Should Know About Putting Positive Phrases Into Customer Service

If you were a customer on the telephone with a question or complaint and were ready to make big purchase, which of the following phrases by this employee would make you feel welcome and want to complete your transaction? Which would drive you away?

* I’m sorry. I didn’t get that.
* I can’t understand what you’re trying to say.

* Yes, Mr. Jones, I’ll be happy to do that for you.
* All right. I’ll see what I can do about it.

* It will take a few minutes. Would you like me to call you back?
* Hold on. I’ll be right with ya.

* Thank you for waiting. I have that information now.
* You’re out of luck. We don’t sell that any more.

* Would you spell your name, please?
* What did you say your name was?

* Thank you. I’ll check for you.
* Okay. Let me see if I can find out about it from someone.

* I’m sorry. Mr. Smith is away from his desk. May I help you?
* He’s still out to lunch. I don’t know when he’ll be back.

By now you can certainly see and feel the advantage that using positive phrases creates for your organization, your customer, your organization, and yourself. Positive phrases cause positive outcomes for everyone involved.

When you’re positive with your customers, they’ll be positive with you. After all, isn’t that what doing business is all about?

Be courteous and professional with others and watch the benefits fall into your lag. It’s guaranteed.

Remember: When you maximize your potential, everyone wins. When you don’t, we all lose.
