Fishing for carp is a very rewarding pasttime as these fish are very clever and wary of taking the bait. Nonetheless, with some guile, you can invite the fish and dupe them into biting onto your hook. What follows are just some pointers to help you with your carp fishing:-
- Take boilies based on fishmeal during the summer and autumn, and try your hand with 50/50 combinations or even bird food types of bait during the winter and spring
- Add plenty of salt to particle baits, particularly the cooked varieties like tares, hemp, maize, beans, maple peas and partiblend seeds. Carp enjoy the taste of salty foods. As a rough guide, mix a single tablespoon of salt to five litres of dry particles. These are also cost-effective and will save you money on baits!
- Try mixing spicy chillies to some particle baits. Carp seem to enjoy that hot “kick” from those chillies. Roughly, mix a couple of tablespoons to five litres of particles.
- When the water is especially cold, try casting your rigs more frequently, and aim at several areas so you can set a hook bait near to the fish. The colder water slows down the movements of carp therefore there’s a lesser opportunity for the fish to swim towards your bait. In the summer, you can place traps in possible patrolling locations and simply wait for the carp to take the bait.
- Add plenty of vitamin C to the bait. Stir up your method with orange juice rather than water from the lake. Also experiment with dipping fresh boilies in orange juice so as to to give off that well-defined relish.
- Whenever possible, make sure not to use round shaped bait. So many lines feature rounded bait, you want to be different. Try to square the hook bait with small scissors.
- Lastly, make sure you have the right fishing gear with you. Research what you should bring online. You can find all kinds of things online, such as bait boats - and be sure to enjoy yourself!

A lot of people enjoy fishing trips each and every year and it’s not surprising given that fishing is such a popular hobby and sport. One of the most important purchases for this hobby is your tackle. There are a range of options available online as well as in stores throughout the UK.
First things first, if you’re interested in buying carp tackle, you’ll have a few things to think about. You’ll have to consider a budget because knowing how much to spend is important. It’s quite easy to work this out as long as you do your research.
Go to your favourite search engine, whether it’s Google or somewhere else, and type in products that you’re looking for. You should also have a pen and paper with you so that you can write down the prices as you go. Once you have a list of prices you should easily be able to work out a realistic budget.
Make sure that you have a pen and paper with you and make a note of the deals you see as you browse the web. You should also consider quality while you’re browsing because you want to ensure that the products you buy aren’t low quality and that they’ll last a few years at least.
It’s sometimes a good idea to head into your local fishing store to see what they have to offer. However, only do this when you’ve seen carp tackle online and you’re aware of what the good deals should look like. Also, make sure that you bear quality in mind.
Buying online will give you access to a much larger range of products and usually the prices are better as well. Just make sure that you prioritise buying online because it’s so much easier to get good deals when compared with shopping on the high street.
Overall, as long as you do your research, buying carp tackle should be easy. It’s simple to find offers online but you’ll have to ensure that you keep your wits about you and look out for deals that could be too good to be true. Keep a pen and paper with you when you’re browsing online so that you can make a note of the offer that you like the look of.
